amsterdam based artist nthng continues to have a busy year. following up an album on lobster theremin and ep on transatlantic, he now lands on delsin with three tracks that touch on driving dub-techno and dreamy ambient. oralage opens with upbeat drum programming and gliding hits that make for a smooth flowing groove. distant pads add some spacey atmospheres and the production is effortlessly warm and driving. a souls search takes time out to drift in the cosmos, with waves of muted euphoria washing over you as you sink into clouds of ambient bliss. lastly, turn to gaia is a dubbed out techno roller, with long legged drums looping down low, reverberating chords adding weight and distant bell sounds charting the whole thing in a harmonic glow. it rounds out a super smooth and seductive ep.

the first vinyl installment from odt records is a vinyl only ep: ufo park. produced by romanian trio lisière collectif, and including remixes from melodie & teluric, under their duo alias glueped, and from steve o sullivan. the music is a 4 tracks ep: where -u - 2902 - 16- is a classy minimal composition, blending a tight beats with a deep and bewitching atmosphere that have been re-interpreted by our two remixer on the b side. in the a2 spot, it s the warm deep and groove-oriented -b - 0912 - 15- that has been pressed. designs of the ep have been created by our faithfull oriane yo, who used andu simion photographies in a pure and simple arrangment.

with lomdit ep we have arrived at levi verspeeks 3rd solo record. three times a charm and so it will be when it crashes onto the dancefloor with tech triumph tamtam named after an unknown friend. 2nd track octo s slick, oozing groove sees right through you and pillages the floor with metal percussion. no later than 6 and a half minutes after you will be met by god s choir singing it s chorus: we smell sausage. watch out that you don t get dipped by that foxy break halfway through! knock knock. who s there? hmmm. hmmm who? hmmm, the last track on lomdit, and it knocks!

bionda e lupo are like little you ll have heard before, a boy/girl band like no other. synth wave is fed a line of modern alienation, delusory disco to a disdainful drum beat, house emptied and ridiculed. rhythms are stark, melodies are as mechanical as the lyrics. -zug der vogel- is sparse, vocals intertwine in an empty embrace whilst bars sparkle. -twoi glasza- is more playful. bright words shimmer against sweeping strings. the past is parodied across the ep but nowhere more so than in -die kinder aus dem park.- a former classic dug out before being peppered by machine gun percussion. the stilted rhyme of -eckstein- closes, a ballad of bittersweet images and lost hopes.

brain machines peaks lp was a highlight of the emotional response catalogue last year, and its only right that the album gets a high-class set of remixes to accompany it. the label have pulled out the stops here with an all-star cast, leading in with salon des amateurs dreamweaver toulouse low trax who drops a pinging, plucking version of light space. then gigi masin steps up with an illustrious revision of crystal clouds, while harmonious thelonious brings a heavy yet measured, techno-minded presence to traces. ronny & renzo round the package out with playful synth splashes on their version of eclipse predictions.

chicago’s carington pierre, also known as lanzo, has bestowed evidence of his cosmic hip hop beatology to the cold busted label in the form of a new album, omnipotent. previously recording for blvnt records and the natural selection label, lanzo specializes in a style of experimental hip hop that draws from boom-bap, soulful downtempo, and atmospheres that lean toward the celestial. lanzo and his trusty mpc 1000 have been actively producing since 2008 and omnipotent confrms his upward trajectory, presenting ffteen tasty sonic morsels that groove in a confdent but abstract fashion. highlights include “comfort zone” which envelopes a swinging rhythm in dreamy strings, distant voices, and rolling bass, and the odd but appealing “gutter balls”, featuring some deliciously drunken synths. there’s also the melancholy quiet storm of “colours”, “against the wall” and its heavily processed beat magic, and the loping sci-f jazz of “between friends”. omnipotent is a heady listen, displaying textures and swirls that accentuate the sturdiness of its drum beats. lanzo has provided a distinctive soundtrack that’s ready-made for day blazing or night groovin’.

bleu nuit (bn) is glad to introduce you to its first release a night on planet earth (bn01) by barcelona-based italian artist flavio folco. known for his musical compositions on his late imprint fresh food (napoli), among others, flavio folco has also made a name for himself as a dj with multiple appearances alongside his friend joseph capriati. whereas a night on planet earth could have seen the light of the day in 2015, when lumièreslanuit (lln) got the demo through a friend, it s finally two years later that the four-tracks ep is finding his place on bleu nuit, and not just any as it is kicking this new project off and paving the way for other break & gangster beats.

kiu d lands back at the masterworks hq for his latest release -the journey - 12 inch sampler-. having steadily climbed the ranks of modern disco producers with consistent releases for the likes of hot digits & special editionà he returns to masterworks with his 4th outing on the label. rounding up a fierce collection of heavy beats, sampled grooves and lush melodies, kiu d remains in fine form and is apparently immune to resting on his laurels.

west side story became the smash hit stage musical of 1957 through a combination of leonard bernstein’s dramatic score with jerome robbins exuberant dance routines. the long awaited film version arrived in 1961 and starred richard beymer as tony, rita moreno as anita and natalie wood as maria. its original soundtrack album clocked up 53 weeks on top of the billboard stereo albums chart and 12 on the mono, making it the album with the most weeks at number 1 of the rock (post 1955) era.

brooklyn/london-based label truecolors follows its debut release with a 12- four-tracker by zigan aldi titled fidale ep. based in berlin, zigan aldi contributed to truecolors va from earlier this year alongside bedouin, nu and stavroz, which has conquered the beatport charts and stayed strong in several vinyl charts. titled fidale , his next outing on truecolors sees aldi make use of analog gear and original recordings of real instruments as opposed to samples, as well as tape to mix the tracks down. this year has seen the producer gig regularly in locations like ibiza, vienna, berlin and istanbul where his live performances incorporate musicians. the tracks have gotten tremendous support and love throughout the summer, at the saga parties at heart ibiza, where zigan holds a residency. deep chords and echoing effects make up fidale as a medley of instruments ebb and flow from the mix, making way for the low-slung groove of moonfly with its infectious guitar licks and serene aesthetic. beni beni incorporates organic drums and soaring atmospherics that blend together with turkish vocalist meltem cumbul s chanting voice, until nu past concludes the release with its crunchy percussion and sultry bass..

london based electronic music label khemia records announces its sixth split release vinyl ep. the second edition of the magnum opus series on khemia records features a new production from berlin based modular powerhouse blush response alongside an electrifying collaboration between years of denial, who have previously released on oliver ho’s death and leisure label and russian techno auteur alexey volkov (jealous god). on the solar side blush response delivers ‘you will cry out in grief’ a maelstrom of industrial electronics seethes under a furious barrage of complex rhythms, as evolving symmetries disperse into incandescence. on the lunar side years of denial meet alexey volkov in the first of a new collaborative series - ‘confess’. barkosina hanusova’s voice ricochets against caustic snares as she intones a fetishistic ritual of contorted flesh and altered states.

repress in generic white cover , earl has been with us since the beginning. the c in c.r.s.t. from some of our earliest releases to the spanking goodfoot ep as chesus and more recently his twisted disco remix of daneekas what s it gonna be? with seven davis jr. as earl jeffers he s really found his sound and we are stoked to have him back on board with his best ep yet. these tunes have been flaming all year in the clubs. proper essential stuff.

being selfish, is one of the good things about running your own label. if you please, you can just try and re-release that certain record that you always wanted for yourself, but never could get your hand on it. now, you can just edit it the way you always wanted it to be (oh, those fade-outsà) and press it up. this is one of these occasions. when kalk (the collaborative project of philippe heinen and joffrey becker) was released on julien briffaz label brif in 1999, i just had started to dj out at a club in darmstadt (the late cafÚ kesselhaus) and the restrained, yet punchy house tracks symbolized what i liked about deep house back then: a mellow alternative to the bpm hunt and rigid attitude in mainstream techno, while not losing itself in chin-stroking wisdom or pesky noodling. it seemed that there werent too many around with the same desire. otherwise akasha wouldnt have remained a diamond in disguise and not what morgan geist so aptly named an unclassic. by his definition, that is: an old by and large forgotten record that would have deserved to be hit. if you take discogs as an indicator, more and more people start to think so though. here is your second chance to obtain a copy of the spirit of kalk. mildly edited and restored in the best human-possible way. mind you, its old house music from days of yore. dj gj

girada01 caused heavy rotation among the underground elite and is already considered a future classic. here you have the follow up, another ep from mysterious unknown producers, full of quality and pushing all the right buttons.

la fleur releases her new ep right behind you via her own power plant imprint. the ep includes two tracks, circadian, and the title track right behind you - both showcasing la fleurs in-demand brand of groovy, vocal techno. the ep release marks the end of la fleurs busiest summer on record. a residency at hot since 82s labyrinth parties at pacha in ibiza, touring brazil with the watergate crew and remixing their new single from the mighty sasha have lead to it being a season to remember. the title track, right behind you, features vocals from austrian vocalist/songwriter lula, who is best known for her distinctive work on danny tenaglia club classics like la fleur favourite read my lips. la fleur said: lulas voice is special and distinct. hearing her unique way of vocalising on favourite tracks of mine from back in the day (like tenaglias 98 single read my lips for example), i just felt i had to reach out to her. creating right behind you was a labour of love and we spent months working on it until we finally got to the definitive version.

originally released as a b-side in 2007 on figure’s then-sublabel podium, len faki’s ‚my black sheep’ was one of those rare tracks that unpredictably take on a life of their own. a veritable underground hit, it not only came to define the sound of len faki at that time but for many became equally synonymous with the state of the scene in berlin around that time. now that ten years have passed since then, we felt it was about time to finally treat the sheep to a fresh shave

oddball japanese electro-fueled vocoder funk with occasional raps from the 80s, including unreleased material. japanese electro original, minoru hoodoo fushimi, self-released four albums. two vinyl lps and two cds between 1985 and 1992. melbourne s left ear records have selected twelve tracks, for a double vinyl retrospective. 10 tracks from minoru s four albums and a further two unreleased tracks from the archives.

earth, wind & fire are obviously one of the greatest bands of all-time and both of these remixes are works of art in their own right. on the a side we have the much in-demand blaze shelter remix of -fantasy- which stretches this classic to 8.55 and finishes with an unbelievable phillip bailey acappella. as though that wasn t enough we ve put the much sought-after masters at work remix of -can t hide love- - a staple records since its debut in 2002.

in a new transatlantic partnership, uk label secret reels and washington, dc imprint better listen records have teamed up for a run of collaborative records. the joint brand, secret listen, combines the labels in sound as well as in name. imagine the lush, pensive and moody deep house tones of secret reels joining with the sample-heavy disco soul leanings of blr. secret listen vol. 1 takes two artists each from both rosters for the first amalgamation. the -secret side- hosting english producers harry wolfman and chocky, while the listen side invites sune and vitamin d of high hat appreciation society and the newly founded honey butter records to the affair. it s a v/a release with a variety of offerings and flavours. wolfmans floozy sits first in the record as a bright and whimsical flute-led morsel, while chockys inner disco is a cerebral, loopy cut. on the flip, sune provides some exquisite rhodes action in his groovy midtempo effort, glidin, and his swedish compatriot closes out the affair with the bittersweet lately.

the latest release on guy gerber’s successful label rumors is a remix ep of the dying seconds’ song ‘mora minn’. guy gerber himself turns in a dub remix, whilst acid mondays and elie nissan & jenia tarsol’s tales feature on the b side. guy’s remix see the acclaimed dj and producer turning the starting point into a wholly new and original sounding release. the dub mix puts guy’s outstanding production into the spotlight. subtle yet intricate, guy’s take on the record pulls together echoing piano chords, a delicate guitar line and emotive, building strings over a gently propulsive bassline. it’ll be familiar to those who have frequented guy’s famous rumors events series this season, with guy’s road testing of the release prompting many fans to ask what this new, distinctively gerber-stamped track could be. meanwhile, rumors label and events mainstays acid mondays take the track into deeper and darker territory, with a faster paced beat and sub-bass flourishes offsetting trippy vocal samples. two fellow tel aviv talents, eli nissan and jenia tarsol, round off the ep with a rework that matches more of the original’s drums, vocals ethereal piano line with amplified percussion and a dancefloor ready bassline. the ep drops towards middle of a busy season for the label and events series, rumors ibiza has become one of the busiest and most talked about daytime events on the island, with international parties in the likes of la, mykonos, sardinia and, most notably, a london street party selling out within hours. to accommodate his ever-expanding fanbase, guy will be playing a landmark headline show at london’s historic roundhouse on the day after this release.

after moving from london to berlin cromby is back on tenderpark with his second ep for the vinyl label. the young man recreates our love for deep house with two sample-based tracks which showcase his ever advancing skills with the old school akai sampler mpc 2000 xl as well as his cool understanding of mixing haunting melodies with gripping groove patterns. the remix on the flip side comes from hip-hop super producer gone house lover hodini who has collaborated with the talented bass player chez kerim for this funky workout. the cover image shot by achim valbracht is the start of a new artwork series developed by tenderpark art director till sperrle which revolves around critique of investor-driven architechture that has been dominating berlin for several decades now. the speciously precious and glittering image displays a normalised and globally standardised kind of beauty but at the same time reveals a strong sense of loneliness. as always both the mastering and as well as the lacquer cut of this record have been carefully executed by vinyl sound mastermind helmut erler at dubplates & mastering.
